I just bought a PSP-3000 and i tested them both out the 3000 and go. i just dislike the screen of the psp go its just to small really, the joystick is on the wrong place also it should be at the left side, its just incredible ennoying to use at that place. The comfort is painly if you got bigger hands. as you are always holding it on the edge of the device with more weight at the above part. The no UMD is problematic entirely. 16gb isn't going to carry a lot and there is simple no way for you to play like 20 games on a vacation without the need to download some of them. All with all i think that the 3000 is more superior.

A couple comments... Changing the USB to a proprietary port is stupid and smart at the same time. Stupid because it's tedious for the consumer, Smart because it means that Sony won't have to compete with 3rd party companies such as Griffon. I'm a little disappointed that the brightness and volume buttons are so out of reach considering that you literally have to turn the console upside doen to maneuver past the screen. This means that you will have to pause the game just to spare your buddies' a blinding during a dark, early morning carpool. It's a catch-22 with the loss of UMD. I just bought my PSP-3000 december 2009 and I already own more games on the PSN than I do in UMD. Mostly doe to all of the PS Classics available. However (and here's the catch), I don't find it as useful when purchasing newly released games, if I can have a physical copy that I can hold in my hands for the same price. However (again) I only say that because I have a PSP-3000 and that privilege is available to me. At this point the PSP GO is a great console for those who are in the "either/or" category that otherwise do not own a PSP, or a mountain of UMDs. In hiensight (Sp. Chk) I should've bought a PSP GO. Because I like the feature of expanded storage. This will allow me to separate my music collection from my games, and It's easier to drop a MSD in your jacket pocket, that it is an exposed UMD.

joezombie15 5 pts

i really feel that this new psp is a total dissapointment and a downgrade from the psp3000 i personaly dont like the deighn and it looks really uncomfortable to use. and another thing what the heck were they thinking taking away the umd slot and making the price $250!!! >:(

real-guitarhero 5 pts

okay Sony, first thing's first... when you start producing better games with higher ratings, then I might just think about buying this.

Lol as soon as they unboxed it i was just thinking...can i text on it!! Either way i don't think they'll get many sales just cause people who have the older PSPs that play them a lot aren't gonna want to have to re-buy all their games. Also the fact that they made the screen even smaller - will that not make games look worse now?? There's also the fact that you'll have to carry around tons of memory cards instead of games so that kind of defeats the purpose...fail

I want one of these, I really do, but I don't see how it would be at all beneficial for someone like myself, who already has quite a few discs on UMD, to pick this thing up. As an owner of the 1000, I'm pretty tired of my ancient brick of a PSP and thought this would be the perfect time to upgrade. Apparently not, as I like to, you know, play games on it.

mr_snickerz 5 pts

This new psp looks very very nice, i love the digital download only, but why does it have to cost so much? wouldn't you rather get a ps3, which is only 50 bucks more? and secondly, you can't transfer any of your old psp games??? WHAT??? That doesn't really affect me to much though, lol, i only have like one game that i want to keep.

Tuppe666 5 pts

Why did they replace the universal mini USB? That doesn't make ANY sense!

Rasenganfan2 5 pts

I think that the Go is a good idea, especially for travelers always on the go with no time to pack all their discs, or for those that lose things easily(like myself). The only complaint I have with this review is that there is no mention of those scanlines that the 3000 has. And no mention of if the Go is more comfy to use(for playing, with the buttons moved and such).

MaxBlaze 5 pts

Err? No option for installing games you already own in UMD format. That's kind of terrifying. Most of the console/portable player demographic does not pirate so I don't see how it was such a huge concern of Sony's. Does the online store include every game released so far for the PSP?

Shtinky 22 pts

The pause feature is amazing, all consoles should do that.

joshboy101 5 pts

actually i take that back lol. It looks really sweet.

joshboy101 5 pts

sony i don't think this is gonna sell. Umd is a great thing you guys came up with....why throw it away?

pureskull123 5 pts

PSP GO!! tta fail. Hmm i wonder the guy that came with the idea had no study of the market. People like to have cases of games, yeah i know steam made money, but steam made money of really good games. How many good games does psp have against steam, hardly 1/6 of whole steam database. Plus its quite expensive, and in top of that you can only have around 6 games the u need to get another flash to save more games. and in the end psp is quite old from 2004 its 5 years Sony let it go already oh damn.

bluechuy 5 pts

why are you guys complain so much if the psp go and the games are cheaper then the ps3 and the games

bluechuy 5 pts

If you have a psp and 1 umd registered will be able 2 download 3 games

cleo2525 5 pts

i agree with soem of the others sony need to pump out as many good games as they can, theres not really that many psp games anyway letalone good ones

KRZYHO100 5 pts

CrazyFool1205.... Man it's like you read my mind! Top comments dude "Long live PSP 3000" I thought new PSP looks are ok, not sure about the position of all the buttons and the 'fit to your hand, all looks a bit awkward if your use to the original PSP'.... not going to get too excited about as you can't use your current PSP games & USB's. The whole downloading games is a good idea but i like trading and swapping games with mates.... AND I just hope they don't give exclusivity to PSP GO with some of the new games, that will suck!!! Looking forward to a new (PSP 3000) upgrade!

nhadglz19 5 pts

were talking here a portable device.. i really like how they design it nice feature now its easy to put in my pocket and play whenever i like^_^

calebcop 5 pts

I must say, this is cool, but switching the button location, and making it smaller is not worth replacing your normal PSP. Not to mention you can't recycle your games to digital download, that would be cool. But so far that's not the case. I not going to sell my PSP 3000 for a third of what I bought it for to get this. Well if I could recycle all my accessories, UMDs, everything for this, and all my games, and stuff digital and I don't have to pay a cent, I would most likely do that. I mean I will wait for a PSP 2, cause I have a feeling (They do this a lot) that at the next E3, we might be hearing about a PSP 2, I'm not 100% sure, but it could happen.

calebcop 5 pts

Yeah CrazyFool1205, I so agree with you.

CrazyFool1205 5 pts

I don't usually post things on these comment forums, but Holy Hell..some people need to learn English...or how to type, maybe? KingsterX, you should be banned from the internet for the rest of your life. So, basically just kill yourself now. I just bought a PSP3000 knowing I would want UMDs and a bigger screen. The Go does look nice and all, but I'm happy with mine. I do plan on downloading plenty of games too, just not the main ones I'd like to hold in my hand, or share with my girlfriend (who was the one to convince me to get a PSP) The fact that Sony releases new versions so much isn't a bad thing, it's not to get people who already have a PSP to go buy a new one. It's to get people who DON'T have a PSP to go buy one. And Amen to people preaching about new, better games. I'm tired of checking GameSpot for PSP updates and being disappointed there are very few high rated games, and fewer new games that look excellent enough to purchase.

flawless_blade 5 pts

while it looks very nice, i really cant see what will make anyone with a previous version of the psp to go out and buy one. i dont think making it look slicker and fiddling around with the button and analogue stick positioning really justifies throwing down $250 or so more for basically another psp, if you already have one. plus, im willing to bet that for many of us with slow wifi (or none at all) itll be easier to just carry around umds instead of downloading the games again. this whole situation is sort of like the one with ipod. you already have one and it works perfectly, so theres no real point of buying the latest annual "upgrade".

dualscreen22 5 pts

the video froze on me. does it have a slot to put games in

Ssj4Gogeta007 5 pts

yeah........i support what decepticon 11 said.......why you all are complaining too much......The price of you guyz complainment seems to be more expensive than the psp go........

This is Ludacris!!!!! Who the hell is running Sony now a days? i have a psp1000 and love it got it a day before it was released. ive seen sony make psp model after psp model it;s a lil stupid now and to be selling it for 249.99 are they crazy $100 more and u could get a psp1000 and a PS3 Sony needs to pull it's head out of it's @SS make some games

runnriot 5 pts

just seems like the analog buttons position would get quite frustrating

Zerosumgame 13 pts

If this thing is coming out at a price of 129.99, kids will no longer complain and may there be peace for their parents.

Machineboyyy 5 pts

Sexy device but not worth it of one already owns a previous PSP model. I recently bought a PSP-2000 and I have no regrets, got it running CFW and all that jazz. Homebrew FTW!

Ornemorie 5 pts

Calm down everyone... Sony will probably release something that lets you convert your UMDs into the psp format, so you could still play it... And if the PSPgo will be hacked, you can do this even easily by importing your own UMDs ISOs from the old PSP to the PSPgo. I've got a PSP-1000 and I'm keeping it because it's sturdy. Hell- it's 4 years old and it doesn't have a scratch on it! And I can slip in into my pocket any time- I don't need any fancy slim PSP. If I won't buy PS3, maybe it'll be a PSPgo- and only if they hack it. I want to play some games I have only on UMD!

strangeseraph 5 pts

Proprietary fitting, built in battery, no other goodies in the box...Expensive. :/ Glad I got my 3000.

KingsterX 5 pts

ok.....dis thing is d ultimate handheld device.....but d thing is....sony should plan 2 get a few more games , which r actually gud.....rather dan jus keep updating d console every year...

neon_tiger 5 pts

i dont use my psp now anyway. there were never that good of games for me to actually give it some love. i doubt ill get this......... unless it gets cheaper

NeoGunKuruma 5 pts

The 3000 is faulted by a bad screen design (rotated pixel rows in the new screen produces noticeable ghosting in mostly 2D games), and unremarkable glare protection. The PSP1000 is the best in terms of reliability since it is the best built PSP with it's sturdy design (while the Go was praised for sturdy design in this review, but since it uses a slider screen, it will eventually wear with use and become loose) and the best of the series in cabibility for homebrew support (contains the oldest kernels and firmware). The go's obvious flaws are bad button configuration, the requirement to use a proprietary cable (a backwards decision on Sony's part), and the inability to replace the battery (last time I checked at least). In conclusion, choose the PSP that suits your lifestyle, not which one is the newest, and you'll make the best use of your money and gain the most use out of your device.

NeoGunKuruma 5 pts

What some people fail to realize it that the PSPgo is not the successor to the PSP3000. It is merely a branching out of the PSP product line. The PSPgo is obviously designed for people who don't currently own a PSP due to convenience, mainly casual gamers who want something more substantial than a cellphone for their media needs. Not as an "upgraded" PSP3000. The telling signs are the lack of a UMD drive (no need for a user to carry around disks= more portability) a smaller screen (again, easier to pick up, play, and put away), and of course the save state feature. The PSP3000 is in turn designed for "joe hardcore gamer" who doesn't want to be limited by a hard drive, prefers a larger screen, and thinks of portability as a secondary feature. I currently only see the PSP2000 as the only substantial upgrade in therms of the entire PSP line, mainly the expanded flash memory, lighter weight, and better screen.

WoodenSword 5 pts

The button placement (particularly the analog stick) seems really awkward, and having to download all your games and only owning it digitally is one of the lamest things ever devised. You can't buy used games, or sell your old ones when you're done with them either. I hope it bombs. This is the fourth PSP model they've made, each of them not adding anything significant. Knock it off already.
